Germany is remembering on Tuesday the racist arson attack that killed five Turkish women and girls in the western German city of Solingen 25 years ago. The deadly fire was set by four men, aged 16 to 23, from the far-right skinhead subculture that surged in the early 1990s following an influx of asylum seekers. Source:

More and more Germans are spending more time and money at a growing number of campsites across the country. Bavaria is the campground of choice, where campers can enjoy plenty of lakes, forests and, if they're within range, a spectacular view of the Alps.
Adventure of the day
An adventurous cow strayed from the herd to cross a bridge under renovation in Flintsbach, a tiny Bavarian village near the Austrian border. The runaway bovine eventually stopped after reaching a 5-meter (16-foot) gap in the scaffolding – a bit too far to jump even for such a wanderer. Local firefighters came to the rescue, building a makeshift bridge and offering a guiding hand. Source:

The European Commission has proposed new EU-wide rules aimed at reducing plastic pollution in cities and oceans by banning several disposable plastic items such as straws, plates, utensils and cups. The Commission also wants to outlaw a number of popular single-use plastic products, such as cotton swabs with plastic stems and plastic balloon holders.
