Countdown for Puigdemont
Germany has 60 days to decide whether to extradite the fugitive Catalan leader, Carles Puigdemont, to Spain, where he is wanted for rebellion, sedition and misuse of public funds. Mr. Puigdemont was arrested in northern Germany on his way to Belgium, where he fled last fall after the referendum he led was declared illegal by Madrid.

Günther Krause, a former transport minister, faces a judge in a Potsdam court today for a delay in filing for insolvency. As state secretary, he served as one of two chief negotiators for the unification treaty after the fall of the GDR. The other negotiator was former finance minister Wolfgang Schäuble, who is now the Bundestag president. Source:

It's boom time on the seas as the cruise industry is growing fast. Travelers are willing to pay ever more for a taste of life on the open seas. On average, people cruise for nine days sunning themselves, dancing and exploring ports. Rising in sync, though, are pollution levels. Ahoy! And don't forget to take your trash with you.

These eggs are hand-painted in the tradition of the Sorbs, a Slavic minority group in eastern Germany. They were crafted by Heidemarie Hoeft, a prize-winning artist from the region. Easter is particularly important to the Sorbs who decorate the eggs to ward off evil.
