BER, Berlin’s perennially unfinished airport, might finally become useful – as a parking lot for VW cars. The automaker has rented several areas to temporary hold vehicles due to be sold. Facing delays in regulatory approval for cars that comply with the newest emissions standards, Volkswagen has increased production of models that satisfy the new rules as of September 1. It plans to sell these cars as it stops listing ones that aren't yet certified. Source:

Germany has become the world’s favorite place to work abroad after the United States. It climbed two spots and replaced the United Kingdom, according to a survey. A strong industrial sector, generous social services and its open immigration policy are cited as the reasons for Germany’s increased appeal. It is the only non-English speaking country in the top five. Brexit has made the UK less popular, particularly among the Chinese.
Quote of the day
The immigration row in Angela Merkel’s coalition government is far from over, meaning the chancellor’s position is still at risk. Ms. Merkel and top politicians met until 1am on Wednesday, but broke up without a deal. Alexander Dobrindt of Ms. Merkel’s Bavarian ally, the Christian Social Union, repeated the party's wish to have refugees already registered in other EU nations sent back to those countries. He doesn't want to give the chancellor more time to work out a European solution. Coalition parties will meet again on Sunday to assess the outcome of an EU summit this Thursday and Friday in Brussels.
