A World War II shell uncovered in the once-heavily bombed city of Dresden partly detonated as authorities tried to defuse it. A small fire broke out, and the bomb squad will try again once the device cools down. Some 9,000 local residents will just have to steer clear. Source: DPA

After meeting with US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas left with the sense that the United States and the European Union face "completely different paths" when it comes to the Iran deal, with no resolution in sight. The US withdrew from the accord earlier this month, but European powers including Germany, France and the United Kingdom hope to save it.
