Lufthansa exec Thorsten Dirks irked Berlin politicians in a German newspaper interview by criticizing their inability to complete construction of an airport that was supposed to open in 2011. Airport officials Monday reiterated that the capital's new BER airport will open in fall 2020 after some modification, not new construction.

The Wall Street Journal and, later, the Ukrainian foreign minister said ex-German chancellor Gerhard Schröder should be sanctioned for his lobbying on behalf of Russia. The WSJ even called Mr. Schröder "Putin's key oligarch." As chancellor, Mr. Schröder backed the Nord Stream gas pipeline from Russia to Europe only to become its chairman after leaving office. Mr. Schröder now also sits on the supervisory board of Rosneft, the state-backed Russian oil company. Source:
