While in Hamburg for a gig Sunday, Foo Fighters founder Dave Grohl was tickled by the familiarity of a local wine shop's name: Weinhaus Gröhl. Daimler doubting diesels
After Daimler CEO Dieter Zetsche met again with Transport Minister Andreas Scheuer, the Stuttgart-based carmaker announced a recall of 774,000 diesel-powered cars Europe-wide. Daimler had been immune to the ongoing Dieselgate scandal, but employees now fear the company was more deeply involved than it has admitted.

Germany's governing coalition wants to help families buy their first homes as real-estate prices continue to climb and first-time buyers fall. The plan calls for an annual housing subsidy of €1,200 per child for 10 years. But the German Economic Institute in Cologne points out the government hasn't set aside money to fund the program.
