Speculation has kicked off over who will succeed Wolfgang Schäuble as finance minister. Christian Lindner and Wolfgang Kubicki, two leading figures in the Free Democrat party (seen on the left in the picture) are possible candidates, while Jens Spahn or Ralph Brinkhaus from Angela Merkel's Christian Democrats (seen on the right) are also contenders. But the list doesn't stop there: Ursula von der Leyen (CDU defense minister), Markus Söder (from the CSU) and Volker Wissing (FDP) are also in the running. Picture source:

Who's the Richest?
US and Swiss citizens are the richest in terms of net wealth, an Allianz survey of 53 nations showed. Much US wealth, however, is in the hands of multi-billionaires such as Warren Buffett and Bill Gates. A look at the median net wealth figure then puts Switzerland at the top in this category with the US dropping to 13th position. Germany is 21st.

German police are looking for a man who is suspected of poisoning baby food sold in several supermarkets and drug stores. He allegedly blackmailed the chains, demanding millions of euros.
