Christian Lindner, who might become finance minister in a new coalition government led by Angela Merkel, is in favor of higher taxes for international technology companies, he told Süddeutsche Zeitung. The taxation of these companies should get high priority at the European and G20 levels, he said.

Fishermen emptied Horbach Lake in the town of Ettlingen to regulate the fish stock and possibly find a mysterious predator, which has attacked several swan chicks. Local media have dubbed it the “Monster of Horbach Lake,” but the fishermen did not find a “Jaws” swimming in the pond. Experts think a fox is the most likely culprit. Source:

Wolfgang P. was sentenced to life imprisonment on Monday for killing a police officer last year. The 50-year-old man was a member of the so-called Reichsbürger, or “citizens of the Empire,” a term used for people who do no recognize the German state.
