Martin Schulz, head of the Social Democrats, is meeting with President Frank-Walter Steinmeier on Thursday. Pressure is rising for his party to re-enter a governing coalition with Chancellor Merkel's conservative Christian Democratic Union. Mr. Schulz had ruled out a so-called "Grand Coalition" because his party was overshadowed in previous iterations.

Gamze Kubaşık testified Wednesday at the trial of five members of the NSU, a neo-Nazi terrorist cell that murdered 10 people, including Ms. Kubaşık's father. The five members face conspiracy charges, and Ms. Kubaşık criticized them for not aiding in the investigation of her father Mehmet's murder on April 4, 2006. Source:
