Environmental organizations pushing for better air in German cities received support from the three parties expected to form the country's next government. All support a special blue sticker for diesel vehicles that could make it illegal for them to drive in highly-polluted areas, usually urban centers.

German authorities devised a plan to rescue a 225-meter cargo ship stranded in the North Sea. The country’s maritime emergency crew will use 1,000-meter tow lines and will lighten the ship, named Glory Amsterdam, by pumping out ballast water from tanks and cargo holds. They hope to tow it free before the weekend.
